Title: Senior Motor Equipment Operator NON-COMPETITIVE

Hourly Pay: $30.06
Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (30 minutes unpaid lunch)
General Description: This is a senior level position requiring the safe and efficient operation of medium and heavy equipment such as small and large trucks, dump trucks and trailers, bulldozers, payloaders, backhoes and graders. The work involves maintenance of diesel- and gas-powered motor equipment. Will maintain a limited lead role over other equipment operators and laborers. The employee is required to be on twenty-four (24) hour call seven (7) days a week.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Adequately drive and operate medium and large trucks: loader, packer, link belt, knock down and finishing roller, excavator, backhoe, sweeper, Vactor, root cutter, compressor, or Drott, striper, hydro-dig, skidsteer milling

Numerous other manual tasks.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Operates a snow plow and related snow removal equipment

Operates medium and heavy trucks to transport workmen and transportation of stone, gravel, asphalt, and other supplies related to public works activities

Operates motor equipment for maintenance tasks on highways and other public works components

Operates motorized lawn mowing equipment

Performs manual labor tasks such as laying pipe, setting manholes and loading equipment.

Operates power tools such as chain saw, bush clippers, leaf loaders, jack hammers

Assumes responsibility for supplies and equipment

Checks equipment and performs minor maintenance work such as adding oil and other fluids

Secures equipment for overnight or weekend storage

May assist mechanics with repairs to assigned equipment

May supervise a crew of laborers on an occasional basis

Other minimum qualifications per the New York State Civil Service requirements.
Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a valid NYS Class *B* Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Tanker Endorsement. CDL Class *A* preferred; if not in possession, must be obtained within nine (9) months of position start date. Three (3) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in the operation of medium and heavy trucks and motor equipment.
